How Meta Ads ROAS is calculated

ROAS equals attributed revenue divided by advertising spend. A result of 4.00x means the attribution source reports four dollars of revenue for every dollar spent on ads.

ROAS is a revenue ratio, not profit. Product cost, shipping, payment fees, returns and operating costs are not included in the calculation.

Read ROAS with CPA and attribution context

Two campaigns can report the same ROAS while producing different acquisition costs, order values and cash requirements. Review CPA and revenue per conversion beside the ratio.

Keep the spend and revenue windows aligned, and document whether revenue comes from Meta attribution, a store or another measurement source before comparing periods.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a good ROAS for Meta Ads?

There is no universal target. The required ROAS depends on contribution margin, repeat purchase behavior, cash flow and the costs excluded from attributed revenue.

Is ROAS the same as ROI?

No. ROAS compares attributed revenue with ad spend. ROI normally compares profit with the full investment and therefore requires more cost data.
